Debs Harrison

Sculptor

I am a contemporary sculptor who specialises in stone. I began sculpting in my middle years after discovering I could carve at an arts festival. I turned professional 7 years ago, after a stone masonry course at Bath City College. My works can be abstract or figurative. I am inspired by social injustice and my faith. I have won several awards (Ashburner Sculpture Prize 2022, SWAc Sculpture Award 2022 and Guest Judges award 2022).
I live with the stone until I can feel what's within it. Then I follow the grain, colour and form of the stone until the sculpture takes on a life of its own. I have sold internationally to the USA and Europe. Notable sales are to the Gloucester NHS Trust and the chair of the UN antitorture committee.
I am a founder member of the Cotswold Sculptors Association which now has over 100 members.

I welcome commissions and hold classes at my workshop at the Gloucester City Works Scrap Store.
